What is the Block-Based Internet (BBI)?

The Blockchain-Based Internet (BBI) is a plan to build a parallel system that actually serves the people in it and gives them full control over its governance. It will be a new internet, financial and governance system owned 100% by its users, focused on privacy, financial freedom, personal data ownership, and free speech. Every participant owns an equal share and has one vote, regardless of wealth, standing, or when they signed up. Instead of centralized servers and data centers, it will be designed to run on nodes that people operate on their own computers, tablets, and smartphones. It is a tool based on currently available technology for building a parallel system both digitally and in the real world: local communities that can govern themselves, form their own institutions, and fund projects from small businesses to public goods and infrastructure.

The financial design is meant to help people own a home, grow wealth, and keep debt from becoming a lifelong obligation. Usury is rejected. Zero-interest loans are intended to help people buy homes and start businesses. Tokenization is meant to help repay those debts more quickly while protecting ownership. BBI Foundation grants are planned for worthwhile projects that benefit communities and the wider network. The aim is property you own, not rent, and permanent ownership of everything you buy rather than a temporary license or subscription.

Technology here is a means to an end, not the center of everyone’s life. It should stay subordinate to people: used to create jobs rather than replace workers, bring communities closer rather than isolate individuals, and inform rather than indoctrinate. The BBI seeks a more varied web where user-owned websites can be found again, instead of being buried by corporate search monopolies and AI-written summaries. Where everyone is a real person, not a bot or an algorithm with an agenda. An internet based on freedom and genuine interactions, not surveillance, censorship, and extraction.

Our politicians and elites in our so-called democracies no longer believe they require our consent to do anything, that their plans matter more than the people they affect. The BBI is a response to this because we do not consent to being marginalized by the global elites, technology, and ideology. It is also a response to what some have called technofeudalism: big-tech companies and their owners becoming landlords of the tools everyone else must rent to live. We do not consent to being reduced to users of systems we will never own, on terms we cannot set.

The project is not a political movement. We are not interested in competing in the oppression Olympics, contributing to the weekly installment of “Who’s a Fascist?”, or hearing why socialism will work this time. It will not. We are not interested in the left/right paradigm at all. It has done nothing but divide society and further enable manufactured decline. Good ideas and how to implement them are our focus.

Transparency matters from the start. When fundraising begins, it will only take place on crowdfunding platforms that let every participant see the funds donated and vote on how they are used. We are not selling a cryptocurrency investment. There will be no speculative token at launch. The asset-backed utility token that will act as the network’s native currency will not be given by default to anyone involved in the project. No form of compensation will be given to any participant without a clear explanation of what it is for and approval by vote.

If this resonates with you and you want to be involved, visit our contact section for ways to get in touch so we can start communicating and sharing ideas. We will produce a full project roadmap once a team is in place that can begin building. We will also write a Constitution. That is not a decision a small group can make alone. It will require input from participants and their votes to ratify it. The papers in our documentation section explain the project in more depth, and more will be added as the work develops.

Updates will follow soon.
